RDM in the Social Sciences and Humanities
SSH RDM has countless challanges, a.o.:
- unclear definition of data;
- fuzzy boundaries between data, metadata and paradata;
- heterogeneous file formats;
- varying legal requirements and ethical constraints;
- diverse, often non-documented, discipline-specific practices;
- persisting data silos.
But it has also some strenghts, a.o. because:
- SSH data stewards are highly skilled and good at networking;
- best practices have been shared in interinstitutional and international platforms, like the SSHOP and DARIAH Campus.
